PLEASE refer to my telegram No. 201 of the 24th ultimo, respecting the Bhamo-Tengyueh Railway,

Foreign Office, December 8, 1906.

We have now received your despatch No. 421 of the 16th October, and also the telegraphic correspondence between Burmah and Yünnan.

As soon as the draft Agreement has been considered by the India Office we will reply respecting the points which you raise.

Pending the receipt of our views, and provided you see no objection, you should instruct Wilkinson to intimate that His Majesty's Government expect protection for the reconnaissance similar to that accorded last year. Unless there is serious opposition, he should treat the reconnaissance as an integral part of the survey which was conducted last season.
